'Teresa'
Sevilla, Spain
2023
It's difficult to express what this mural means to me in such a limited text, but I'll try.
First and foremost is the weight and emotional responsibility of portraying a recently deceased mother, side by side with her children, on the wall of the family home. From the very first suggestion, I understood that it wasn't a funereal mural, but a celebration of life, closer to flamenco than mourning, and that's exactly what it was. It's been a beautiful experience sharing more than a week of conversations, carrying scaffolding, and getting our hands dirty with her family, neighbors, and friends.
And on another level, it's my first large-format mural in Seville, and specifically in a neighborhood I've loved for a long time. Personally, it's a success to be able to depict the people who live here and for their neighbors to give me the opportunity to leave my work on their walls.
